They also believe that if the piece of wedding cake was placed under the pillow, one would be able to view their soul mates or future bride or groom in their dreams. The modern wedding cakes come in a variety of colors, but traditionally, it came only in a plain white color. The color is a symbolism for purity, but the color variations today do not mean impurity. Most cakes today are colored pink, yellow, or blue. Cakes during the Victorian period were not in the shades of red or green because the ingredients for colored icing were not easy to get hold of during that period. The belief of the people is that the whiter the wedding cake, since one of its ingredients is refined sugar, the more prosperous the family of the bride, groom, or both is.
After many years, the modern wedding cakes chosen by many couples still come in its traditional white color although there is a variety of bursting colors which can be used. There are instances too that if the motif of the wedding is blue, then the cake will also be in the shade of blue so that it will match the motif. If you are a bride or a groom browsing for cakes, you may choose among an assortment of single-layered cakes, two-layered, three-layered cakes, or more than that depending upon your preference.
