What You should Know About Kosher Wine

Many people know kosher wine for its flavors. It supplies UK with large assortment of spirits, wines and liqueurs. This manufacturer of wines produces stimulating and fruity wines, which are supplied to various shops in London. In the past, kosher wine meant a red liquid that is sweet but this has changed since in the mid-1980s. You could be wondering what makes a wine Kosher. For a wine to kosher, there are certain restrictions, which have to be followed. How Kosher wine is made?  Grapes used to make this wine have to be selected from the field. They have to be unique from those used in making other types of wines. As such, grapes used in making this wine must not be from a new vine. These grapes have to be from a vine that has been bearing grapes for at least four years.  The field from which these grapes are harvested has to be left as a fallow after every seven years. During this period, nothing should be grown in between these vines. No vegetables and fruits should be grown between the vines.  When it comes to making this wine, all the tools, equipments and facilities for storing the wine have to be Kosher.  During the grapes harvesting time, it is only Jew males who observe Sabbath who are allowed to provide services in the production of these grapes. Considering that majority experienced wine makers in Israel are not observers of the Sabbath, they should not be allowed to touch equipments or the wine if it has to be kosher. This should be observed throughout the wine making process.  It is also important to note that during the process, animal product are not used. In making the wine clear, makers of this wine uses a material made of clay. This is known as Bentonite and it pulls particles, which are suspended to the barrel bottom.  Any wine that the maker needs to be kosher, one has to discard one percent of it. This symbolizes the remnant of ten percent tithe, which is usually paid in a Jerusalem temple over the past days. In addition, the barrels used in making this wine have to be cleaned at least three times.  It is also important to note that there are two types of Kosher wine. There is the one that is made with adherence to the outline restrictions. The other type has additional process. This wine is called Mevushal. When making Kosher wine, one has to adhere to all these restrictions. This is important because Kashrut law states that any wine that is opened by someone who is not a Jew, it loses its religious purity.
