When someone ask's me what I like best about my job, I tell them that I enjoy the traveling. When I do travel, one of my co-workers are assigned to go with me and I get to use a company car. Driving makes the trips a little longer and a lot more scenic and when planning one of these trips, I receive an allowance that I need to budget. After driving on trips throughout the country, I became an expert on budgeting and with the economy heading the way it is, I try to make every penny count, which is a good thing.
One of my favorite points of visiting different areas, is going out to eat. Eating out, can cost a lot of money if you don't know how to budget. That is why I make it a point to eat at a restuarant which offers a good value for a meal. Most fast food restaurants have great meal deals for breakfast, lunch, dinner or late night snacks and when traveling, that really comes in handy. The food is always good and the service is fast and that is always a good thing.
While eating out when traveling with another person can make things a little less lonely, I also enjoy the company of the different types of people that come into a fast food restaurant. The variety can be anyone from senior citizen's to children, white collar to blue collar worker's, traveler's, or the regular locals that come in daily. People from all walks of life, dining in one place at the same time, can really keep things interesting.
Value meals are great for everyone. Where else can you get your breakfast with coffee for such a low price. Kid's have their own meals to pick from which makes them feel special and senior's can receive a discount just because of their age. Dollar meals are also a big savings and there are plenty to choose from. Some restaurants that you can eat at also offer coupons or buy one get one deals for extra savings. That always comes in handy when I travel with a co-worker.
A few things that I have noticed about low cost eateries, is that they will do just about anything they have to, to keep their customer's happy and satisfied. One of the places we were at while traveling, had pony rides in the front of the building that were free for the kid's to ride if their parent's ordered certain meals. I thought that was a great idea and seeing all the happy little faces, you could tell those kid's were going to come back again.
On our last night on the road, we decided to eat something different. We were both in the mood for pizza since we haven't had it since we left home. The place we chose was a little crowded, but the line was moving fast. As we entered, there was a woman handing out coupons. If we each ordered the specialty pizza, we would be able to get money off our bill. We were going to order the special anyway, so this worked out good. While we ate, there was a magician going around the room performing different little acts at each table. This was a very nice touch which made waiting time for dinner to arrive, go past quicker.
The job we were sent to do was done and it was time to head back home. On the way, we stopped off for a bite to eat. We were pressed for time so we drove up to a drive-thru. When it was time to pay, we were told that it was family night and that meant another discount. We had enough food for the ride home with some left over. Working at any job can sometimes bring a lot of stress and knowing that you can take a break and enjoy good food, is always something positive to look forward to. No matter what age you are, or what lifestyle you lead, being able to eat for a low cost, is always a good thing.
